Hi! My name is Olivia Daigle. I am 21 years old and a senior attending LSU to obtain my BSW and MSW. I am also enrolled in the Engaged Citizens Program, which is involving over 100 hours of community service and the Communication Across the Curriculum which allows me to show my communication ability in different forms i.e. written, spoken, visual and technical. A big part of my major is the ability to communicate with people and help them find ways to help themselves through provided resources. My end goal is to either own my own private practice, specializing in crisis areas, or being a therapist/ councilor in a school. My main group focus would be kids, as to be a good representation to the fact that therapy can be good and beneficial knocking down the stereotype for when they reach adulthood. I looked up to my counselor in school and she helped me through a lot, which is why I'm here today.

More about me: Through out college, I have been given the opportunity to be apart of three amazing organizations. First, being my sorority. With being in a sorority, I have not only grown my communication skills but have been able to meet people from all different back grounds and form life long bonds. This sisterhood will not only be beneficial in college, but beyond that. My sorority taught me how to deal with all different kind of circumstances, it has supported me in my hard moments and have helped me grow as a person. It felt like home from the beginning and I'm so happy to have been able to experience such a life changing group. I have been put in groups and that is considered a "leader" position by putting forth my effort to carry my position. Although not a big one, still impactful. The Second group I was apart of is being an LSU baseball batgirl. This is one team I'm very happy to be apart of. Its a mix of girls in different sororities and some not even in sororities. All in different majors too. They have also been a big support to me and have given me a job I have been wanting ever since I was little. Being a batgirl was a dream come true, yet a trial I had to face. the first time i tried out I didn't make it. It hurt but I later persevered through and went to the next years interviews and made it to where I am now. This taught me I can do anything I put my mind to. The Last group is the Pageant World. I am Louisiana Queen Sugar LXXXII, and have been not only representing Louisiana and the Sugar Cane Festival down in New Iberia, but the hard working men and women of the Sugar Cane Industry. This has taught me that the small things I do matter and the people I represent, even though I feel small, notice me and see that I bring their industry to light. These to groups have helped me grow in patience, understanding different circumstances and people coming form different backgrounds. It has helped me see varies points of views and the way people handle certain situations. I am very happy with both these opportunities I've been gives and still know that there is always room for growth and improvement. I have also been awarded the title LA Queen Sugar LXXXII this year, representing Louisiana's hard working men and women in the sugar cane industry. These things have taught me that I am not only greatful but have been given oppotunities that I took for granted a few years ago. These positions and communities have given me more than what I could have asked for, taught me who i was, and built me as a person with a strong mindset.
